WORM Journal

Tamper-proof write-once archiving with Object Lock — your documents can no longer be modified or deleted.

The Hextal WORM (Write Once Read Many) journal guarantees that once a document or record is written to the journal, it can no longer be modified or deleted during a defined period. This protection is enforced at the object storage level (Object Lock): the underlying file system refuses any write or delete operation on locked objects, making the protection effective even against a system administrator.

You configure the retention period by document type or by workspace: 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or any period in line with your legal obligations. During this period, documents remain accessible as read-only, but no alteration is possible. Once the retention period has expired, you can choose to renew the lock, delete the documents, or cold-archive them.

The WORM journal meets the most stringent requirements of financial regulators (FINMA, AMF, BaFin), quality standards (ISO 13485 for medical devices, GxP for pharmaceuticals) and data retention regulations. It is an essential building block of your compliance strategy and your ability to demonstrate the integrity of your archives.
